Things I Like: Peekabruiser (Donkey Kong Bananza)

Peekabruiser is the first main boss of Donkey Kong Bananza on the Nintendo Switch 2 and one of my least favorite encounters in the entire game. It honestly made me a little worried because first boss battles are usually very simple and serve as more of a tutorial. This was one of only two or three boss battles where I actually died and had to start over.

Even though Donkey Kong is a gigantic gorilla, especially in his superpowered form, he’s quite small compared to this octopus-squid-looking monster. At least the battlefield is huge.

Figuring out how to attack him is pretty simple and straightforward. At that point in the game, though, you really need to have Donkey Kong’s gorilla power-up activated, or else it feels like a grown man trying to punch through a brick wall.

But the most annoying part of the battle was all those tiny, colorful monsters. I remember encountering them earlier in the game, but they’re like locusts during this boss fight. They swarm you pretty badly, especially when you’re about to land the finishing blow on the boss.

I had to start all over, which did not help my pride. But after failing once, I tried again, and despite a few mess-ups, I was able to squash him for good. That essentially makes this guy probably my least favorite boss in the entire game.
