I believed I liked this pokemon master in Brawl, but when he shows back up after all these years (only Charizard made it to Smash 4) I wasn’t too impressed. He’s the only character to not really be a fighter. He just stands in the background. You can also choose the pokemon trainer to be female, just like the real pokemon games.
Like Brawl, Pokemon Trainer is really three fighters in one. You start off as Squirtle and he’s very quick but there’s not much power to him.
Ivysaur is in the middle of speed, range, and agility. But I never had much luck with him.
Charizard has the power, but his recover is terrible. For someone with wings, he can’t fly to save his life. Which doomed me if I was knocked too far off the stage.
Their final smash is the Triple Finish where all three pokemon team up together for a massive attack of pokemon energy.
When Kirby takes his power, he can be any of the pokemon. When he takes Squirtle’s power, he can shoot water but I never found that useful.
Kirby with Ivysaur’s talents can shoot seeds directly above you. But most people I faced easily dodged this kind of attack.
And when Kirby is part Charizard, he can breath fire. Which is about the same as Bowser’s power.
But overall, I easily lost my matches in the game. Instead of being good at one character, I’m awful at all three of them.
