Rudolph The Red-Nose Reindeer 1964 DVD boxart

This is one of my favorite parts of my childhood. Christmas wouldn’t be complete unless we saw this at least once.

Sam the talking snowman Rudolph The Red-Nose Reindeer 1964

Once Sam the Snowman started narrating, you sat down and listened.

Red nose glowing Rudolph The Red-Nose Reindeer 1964

At least the plot of the story involves forgiveness and acceptance. Too bad a lot kids never took that philosophy with them to school.

Clarice Rudolph The Red-Nose Reindeer 1964

I also liked the character of Clarice the Doe. Rudolph is made total fun of by his peers, and she’s the only one that likes him.

Herbie the elf Rudolph The Red-Nose Reindeer 1964

And Hermie the Elf, who could forget? He didn’t want to make toys, he just wanted to be a dentist. Geez, I thought higher education was important.

Yukon Cornelius Rudolph The Red-Nose Reindeer 1964

Never trust Yukon Cornelius though. That guy is a danger magnet.

Island of Misfit Toys Rudolph The Red-Nose Reindeer 1964

I loved the Island of Misfit Toys, I would adopt some of them.

Bumble holding Christmas star Rudolph The Red-Nose Reindeer 1964

And yes old Bumble. Great villain with a good ending.

Santa Claus Rudolph The Red-Nose Reindeer 1964

This is also one of the first forms of media to show Santa as a more human character. I don’t mean human in his gift giving techniques but as a person. He’s rather bold and unforgiving towards Rudolph at first.

But hey, it all works out in the end. A true Christmas classic for sure.
