Things I Like: Kirby’s Dream Land (Game Boy)

As a kid I never got to play Kirby’s Dream Land on the Nintendo Game Boy. I had the second game and Kirby’s Adventure on the NES, but I missed out on the original. Now that Game Boy games are now on Nintendo Switch Online, I finally had a chance to play it.

Being the very first Kirby game ever made, things are very basic. The biggest difference is that Kirby cannot swallow enemies and absorb their powers.

But he can float and swallow items and shoot them back as stars. Along with other items and whatnot.

And of course there’s a few bosses to beat including our favorite frenemy, King Dedede.

While I did mildly like the game, I would say it’s probably one of the worst in the series that I’ve had a chance to finish. It’s an extremely short game and sometimes almost feels like a tech demo for Kirby than a real adventure. I can kind of see why I never heard of Kirby until the NES game came out.
