Back in the 1990s, United States Senator Tom Carper signed a law as Governor of Delaware defining marriage as between a man and a woman. He did however vote against the Federal Marriage Amendment which would have banned marriage equality in every single state. In 2013, he became fully supportive of LGBT rights.
