I actually had no clue who Ness was when I first got Super Smash Bros. And I wasn’t alone either as Nintendo actually almost didn’t include him in the American version of the game, if I remember right.

He was an absolute favorite of my brother Zach, though.

He’s definitely the most unique character in the whole game in terms of how his powers are controlled. Which can be mighty but awkward. He also has the worst recover when he gets knocked off the stage too.

But luckily for Nintendo, including Ness in Super Smash Bros did help revive the series once again…sorta.
