The Deku Sprout (I’m pretty sure) comes about after you beat the Forest Temple and defeat Phantom Ganon in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. A cute little character.

I was a bit shocked as a kid when I saw his little sprout through the ground right in front of the old Great Deku Tree.

He manages to tell Link about his past and that Link was really a human, in case Link hadn’t already figured that out yet.

I’m not sure if it’s officially canon or not, but I’m fairly certain that this Deku Sprout is the same being as the Great Deku Tree in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. The question is, how did the Sprout grow with the old dead tree right behind it?
