One of my favorite incarnations of Princess Zelda, this Zelda is arguably the best in the whole series. She definitely had more screen time versus most of the other princesses of the series.

I did think it was cute that Link met her as a kid and that even as a child she was very smart and was wise to Ganondorf’s evil plans.

By the time of the future, she disguises herself as a male Sheikah named Sheik.

Even when I was in Middle School playing this game, I’d never believed that she was male.

So when Princess Zelda finally revealed it with her, I wasn’t entirely shocked. But I was surprised Ganondorf basically kidnapped her in a giant crystal remotely, which is a little insanely powerful and nonsensical.

I’m assuming (unlike Bowser and Peach) Ganondorf wasn’t interested in making her his queen. But he definitely wanted the Triforce of Wisdom that she had.

After Link defeats Ganondorf, she is free from that crystal prison.

And her practical purpose in the game to the player is the guide you down Ganondorf’s Castle as it starts to crumble.

To Link though, she does help hurt Ganon so Link can actually slay the evil monster.

And she actually gives Link the choice to go back to the past or stay in the future. I’m surprised he chose to go back in the past. Maybe he asked to be her boyfriend and she turned him down, LOL.
