Since the canceled Sonic X-treme was not actually created by Sonic Team, Yuji Naka was extremely angry at his bosses at Sega for trying to borrow certain elements from his Nights into Dreams game on the Sega Saturn and even threatened to leave the company. Yuji Naka eventually got his way, which may have ultimately been the final nail in the coffin of Sonic X-treme.
