Tales of the Jedi came out on Disney+ a few years ago. I kept putting it on my to-do list, especially as my wife gets burned out on animated movies and TV shows since that’s primarily what our kids watch. I ended up watching this entirely on my free time all alone.

The short series is made by the same people behind (the 3D animated) The Clone Wars television series. As the animation is very clear that they were using the same team and some of the same resources.

Tales of the Jedi was not meant to be a long-running program. Instead it’s a bunch of short stories together. Mostly about certain parts of the Star Wars universe that do not really need at their own television shows or movies.

The ones that interested me the most were the ones involving the future Sith Lord Count Dooku. Especially as we get to see Qui-Gon Jinn when he was still a padawan learner.

And there’s one episode of him having a mission with Mace Windu. As there was a hinted friendship between the two characters during their dialogue in Attack of the Clones.

Ahsoka Tano has a good bit of stories in the Tales of the Jedi too. But I found these to be less interesting than most of the others.

Tales of the Jedi is not an essential watch, especially if you’re a casual Star Wars fan. But it’s a short and mildly sweet series that’s hard to hate. I saw that they came out with a sequel called Tales of the Empire, so I will be starting that eventually but not immediately.
