Blast Corps was the first game Rare developed for the Nintendo 64.
Its puzzle mechanics were inspired by the 1994 Game Boy title Donkey Kong.
The dump truck mechanics in Blast Corps were influenced by the power-slide drifting mechanics in Mario Kart 64.
Rare’s founder, Chris Stamper, stated that the main reason people should buy the game is that “knocking down buildings is fun.”
The original name of the game was Blast Dozer, which remains the title of the Japanese version.
On the level select screen, the planets revolve around the sun accurately, although the timing is sped up.
Only about seven people provided the core labor to develop the game.
The destruction mechanics in Blast Corps later inspired the FPS game Red Faction.
