Kafei’s Mask is one of the many masks you can find in Nintendo’s classic game The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask on the Nintendo 64. It’s definitely one of the more useless masks in the game, despite being kind of memorable for me.

Kafei’s Mask is actually one of the earliest masks you can get in the game. It’s basically the first stepping stone in a long quest to collect even more masks. You’re essentially looking for some dude you haven’t even seen yet.

That dude turns out to be Kafei, who was engaged to Anju—a character you do get to see a lot. He was turned into a child by Skull Kid and hides because of it. But here’s my theory: he wasn’t hiding from her because he was technically a kid—he was hiding because he was afraid she wouldn’t love her short king. LOL.

Granted, she does love him, but you don’t get to see that pay off for a while. Having this mask lets you meet the real Kafei, who gives you the Keaton Mask. Eventually, you team up with him, find the Sun Mask and the Moon Mask, and merge them into the Couple’s Mask, which rewards you with… a piece of heart. WTF kind of reward is that, Nintendo? Who came up with that idea—GameStop?
