Things I Like: Taki (Soul Calibur II)

Taki is one of the most notable characters in Soul Calibur II, having been part of the original Soul Edge game. She’s not my ultimate favorite, but I’ve always been a fan of her. This is actually the first game, if I remember correctly, where they allowed her to show her true face, which is a little out of character for a ninja.

She uses dual swords called kodachis, which are almost like small Japanese katanas. They don’t give her much range, but she has many quick attacks and some pretty effective kicks.

Taki’s default outfit was definitely designed with the male gaze in mind. She looks like she’s about to go to the gym and is looking for a lot of attention, LOL.

I’ll admit I’m not very good at playing her, especially compared to some of the other characters. I’m not sure how she performed among professional players in tournaments, but I could imagine some people being quite deadly with her.

She’s such a classic part of the series that it’s hard to imagine Soul Calibur without her. I didn’t get to play Soul Calibur V, but I was rather shocked to learn that they didn’t include her so they could introduce her student, Natsu, as a sort of clone character. Apparently, she returned in Soul Calibur VI, which makes perfect sense.
