Peppa Pig has been on TV for a majority of the 21st century now, so it has been a part of the childhood of late Generation Zers and most certainly the entirety of Generation Alpha. I always thought this show was kind of creepy when I knew of it before I ever had children, and I was not entirely shocked when my son wanted to watch it. And he had a humongous fascination with it for a few months. He even picked up on the accents which is a reason I tolerated the show more, because he was too stinking cute when he did it.

Immediately after I saw Peppa Pig, I started to draw similarities between it and the Australian television show Bluey. I am not sure what their official stance is or not, but it is pretty obvious the Australians definitely take a lot of notes about Peppa Pig and evolved it into a much smarter program. The only major difference between Peppa’s family and Bluey’s family is the little sibling. Instead of the little sister Bingo, Peppa has a little brother named George.

I guess that is a reason why Alex really likes the show because he relates to that. He is the little brother and he has a lot of similarities with George, including his love of dinosaurs. But George follows Peppa around and usually does stuff that his big sister does.

I think a problem I do have with George is that he is too much of a baby. He does not really speak intelligible words and he has a lot of temper tantrums and crying. Bingo is definitely the much more developed and lovable little sibling, because they gave her personality and a way to express herself.

And Daddy Pig certainly does not hold a candle to Bandit. Surprisingly enough, after Alex had his long obsession with Peppa Pig… he no longer wants to watch it. But it is very common with him and his programming. He does not know what cable TV is, and he certainly knows he can basically choose whatever he wants to watch. So when he wants to watch something, that is all he is going to want for the most part. I would not be shocked if he tries to get back into the show again but I doubt it is going to be as strong as the first time.

It was after my girls grew out of animated television, but I know my nephews loved this program too.
