Gigantosaurus is a television series I had to steer my son toward. Admittedly, I do not really like the art style, but I know my son Alexander loves dinosaurs and needed a new show to watch. We watch it on Netflix, though it apparently originated as a French production based on a book. Disney eventually stepped in to help broaden the show’s reach outside of France.

The show is not always technically about Gigantosaurus, or Giganto for short, but instead follows a group of small dinosaur friends who spend most of their time together.

I always assumed a Gigantosaurus was just a gigantic Tyrannosaurus Rex, but I was wrong. It was a distinct dinosaur species of its own. The massive dinosaur in the show is enormous and does not seem to talk, but he is a good friend to the smaller dinosaurs whenever they need help.

Compared to my son’s other favorite shows, this is probably one of the weaker ones for him, and I cannot really blame him. It seems like a decent cartoon, but I doubt anyone is truly excited to watch it, even toddlers like my son Alex. I do not think his heart would ever break if he never owned a toy based on this show.
