Castlevania is a long running video game series that had a pretty good lore and story to it spanning over centuries of fictional tales of vampire hunters against Count Dracula. Netflix decided to make a TV series based on the games, starting with most of the story based on Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse. Now this newest season, is based more on Curse of Darkness which was set a few years after Trevor Belmont’s fight against the Vampire King.

Though the Netflix series and Curse of Darkness have their differences in story. Trevor has a bigger role here and Sypha I don’t think showed up in Curse of Darkness. Even Alucard shows up again for the Netflix tale for which I’m really sure he was not in the PS2 game. Things have gotten better romantically for Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades, but Trevor finds life after Dracula’s death to be a little boring.

Hector is taken by Camilla after Dracula’s downfall to her castle. He is soon tortured for no good reason but kept alive for one, he is a forge-master. There in the castle, he meets Lenore, a beautiful and somewhat kind vampire woman. But both Lenore and Hector have much to gain…and much to fear out of the other.

After being “saved” by Dracula before his doomed fight, Isaac vows revenge against those who plotted against Dracula. He still has all his powers like before. He soon creates another small army of demonic beasts. But his rage and mission burns even brighter in his heart. Soon hell will fall upon eastern Europe, but will humanity be ready for it?

Overall Castlevania’s 3rd season was better and longer than I expected. But it seems they aren’t done with Curse of Darkness yet, I was excited to see them jump to a tale based on Simon Belmont, so I hope they don’t ruin their chances before viewers get tired. I would say it’s on par with the 2nd season, but I do prefer the former just a little.
Score: B
I haven’t watched this.
