I didn’t get to play him during his DLC days in Smash 4, but he was on the starting roster for Ultimate. I wasn’t shocked he finally appeared in the series, as he’s easily the most popular character among Final Fantasy fans. I never played Final Fantasy 7, so there’s not a lot of fandom for me to love off the bat.

I originally thought I’d do well with Cloud. I’ve faced plenty of players online who could make short work of me with that giant sword he wields.

He does have the power, but he’s kind of slow and sluggish for a swordsman. He can power up his move with a fast charge but unless you’re on a big stage, you essentially let yourself becoming a sitting duck.

His final smash, Omnislash is decent. It’s powerful but a little easy to miss with.

When Kirby takes his power, he gets the blade beam ability. For both Cloud and Kirby, it’s a decent special move.

But I did really poorly with Cloud, so I wasn’t a big fan. I know he has his own fans who enjoy his incarnation in Ultimate, but I wasn’t too impressed.
