One of the most mysterious characters of the original Star Wars Trilogy was the bounty hunter Boba Fett. He had just a few lines and a handful minutes on screen, but he proved popular among fans. Boba Fett was revived for the Disney+ show The Mandalorian, and now gets his own show as well. Is it any good?

The show starts with the former bounty hunter Boba Fett now as the de facto leader of the criminal underground on the planet Tatooine. You also get to see flashbacks of how he survived his fall into the sarlacc pit. And the very bitter road he had to walk just to get his armor back.

In truth, Boba Fett is just a foreigner to the planet Tatooine. And the people living on the harsh planet probably don’t remember a day where Jabba the Hutt wasn’t ruling with a ruthless fist. All the locals don’t know what to expect from Boba Fett.

And Boba Fett quickly learns that not having the ultimate respect gets him mixed results. People boldly go out of their way to disrespect him to test boundaries. And other criminals with vast power and wealth start to envy what he has and are definitely wondering how fragile his position as daimyo is.

I’ve never really seen the appeal of Boba Fett from the original movies, but I will give props to Temuera Morrison for making the character a lot more interesting. But unfortunately his show suffers a lot from the same thing that plagued The Phantom Menace, boring made up politics of space people. It picks up when a certain character arrives, but the show has definitely divided the Star Wars community on how good or not good it is. I liked it but it definitely felt short, especially compared to The Mandalorian.
Score: B-
I blush to admit, I don’t remember Boba.
I don’t blame you
