Hunter × Hunter is an anime series I started not terribly long ago. It took me awhile to finish the first season but I actually binge watched the second season pretty easily.

I was really shocked that this season really primarily focuses on Gon and Killua. You really don’t see much of Leorio and Kurapika.

After Gon gets his hunter’s license at the end of season 1, his next big adventure is at Heavens Arena. A tall tower of fighting tournaments. It does make me question how this place can stay economically stable.

Once again, it definitely doesn’t give me a single clue of what a hunter really is. Technically not everybody at Heavens Arena is a hunter or even close to one, but they did do good job of explaining a new type of energy.

I was a little disappointed by the fights of Heavens Arena. I remember how awesome the Dark Tournament was in Yu Yu Hakusho (also by Yoshihiro Togashi) and this doesn’t hold a candle to that.

But that’s not to say I didn’t enjoy the second season of Hunter × Hunter. I will be starting the third season soon enough, hopefully optimistic that the series will get great instead of just good.
