General Blue was probably my favorite antagonist of the whole Red Ribbon Army in the original Dragon Ball anime. One of the most powerful fighters in the whole army, he spends a small saga tormenting Goku.

And due to a special power, he manages to almost kill Goku.

It’s also heavily implied that he’s gay. As he hilariously turns down Bulma when she gets thirsty.

But eventually he fails against Goku and Commander Red sentences him to death. But unlike some of his other comrades, he’s given a chance to redeem himself because he’s allowed to fight his executor Mercenary Tao. For which General Blue seems to be overconfident about. But he definitely was shocked that his power had no effect on the warrior.

And even more shocking was that Mercenary Tao was able to kill him with one hit, which was a tongue pierce to the temple. Which may have been the first time that Dragon Ball power levels got rather inconsistent. As Goku fought Mercenary Tao on more equal footing, despite almost losing to Blue.
