Master Shen is one of the least likable antagonists in the original Dragon Ball anime. He’s the master of the Crane school and also the teacher of Tien Shinhan and Chiaotzu.

He also had a very rough relationship with Master Roshi as their schools could be considered rivals.

But they actually fought for the same school and had the same martial arts teacher whom perished against King Piccolo centuries before.

He wasn’t above cheating as he was very desperate for Master Roshi’s students to lose against his school.

Tien Shinhan and Chiaotzu decide to leave his school shortly after the tournament. So when the final tournament happens, he convinces his brother Mercenary Tao to fight him and Tien is so strong that he easily out classes Tao and delivers him to Master Shen. Taking the high road out.
