Oolong was a decent character in the original Dragon Ball anime, while he’s in Z, this is where he shines. He’s also based on the character Zhu Bajie from the Chinese tale Journey to the West, for which the two share very similar physical features and personality traits.

But in Dragon Ball, Oolong was originally one of the first antagonists. Being a shapeshifter, he uses his talents to basically make himself a harem… and let’s just say that the age of some of the ladies under him was very VERY questionable…

After getting embarrassed by Goku, he decides to actually become part of the team… Sorta. He was never a fighter.

And ironically becomes the first character to wish on the Dragon Balls. Denying Emperor Pilaf a wish, by yelling that he wanted the panties off of a hot babe instead. Such a noble wish, lol.

His rivalry with fellow shapeshifter Puar is also kind of funny. I’m surprised Akira Toriyama did not get them married, LOL.
