Yakon is one of the minor villains in Dragon Ball Z’s Majin Buu Saga. By the time the anime concludes, most of us have practically forgotten he ever existed. Not exactly the most inspired creation to come from Akira Toriyama’s fantastic imagination, that’s for sure.

He’s initially hyped up as a rather intimidating opponent, even managing to dispatch a few of Babidi’s lesser minions who were guarding his cell. But if Yakon was already under Babidi’s enchantment, why would he need to be imprisoned in the first place?

He eventually faces off against Goku, though honestly, even Gohan could have beaten him without much trouble.

What is interesting is his unusual ability to drain Goku’s energy by literally swallowing his light, forcing Goku back from Super Saiyan to base form. It makes sense in theory, but still feels a little cheap, don’t you think?

Rather than defeating him with punches, kicks, or ki blasts, Goku simply overfeeds him with light until he explodes, proving that sloth and gluttony truly are deadly sins. One of Goku’s rare kills as well.
