Marron is a very minor character in the Dragon Ball Z anime, but still worth noting since she is the daughter of Krillin and Android 18. Strangely, her name is almost identical to Krillin’s ex-girlfriend, Maron, just with an extra “r.” Because the original Maron was an anime-only character, it makes you wonder whether this was a coincidence or a running joke.

Marron first appears in the Majin Buu saga as a bit of a surprise. The shock isn’t that Krillin had a baby, but that he had a baby with an Android. It’s worth mentioning that Japan typically uses the term “artificial humans” for these characters, I think. Technically, Android 18 is a human who was mechanically enhanced, which makes her more accurately a cyborg, since an android is a robot designed to resemble a human.

It’s also kind of cute that Marron looks a lot like Krillin but has her mother’s hair. She even seems more attached to her mother than to her father.

Although she is later revived with the Dragon Balls, it was still disturbing that the anime showed her being turned into candy by Super Buu. Dragon Ball Z rarely feels like a horror movie, but that moment definitely does. It’s one of those events the audience could have just assumed happened, they didn’t need to show it.
