While it’s not as popular as some other animes, but The Seven Deadly Sins is actually one of my favorite cartoons from the Land of the Rising Sun. This is a sequel series technically, with the focus on different characters than the Seven Deadly Sins.

I presumed originally that Tristan would be the hero of the new series, which would make sense. As he’s the half-demon half-goddess son of Meliodas and Elizabeth. And while he is an important character in the story, he’s not the main one.

Neither is Meliodas, as the King of Liones doesn’t adventure as much he used to. As he has to tend to his royal duties or something like that.

In a impressive curveball, the main hero is actually a little guy named Percival. He’s actually the same age as his peers (being 16 years old) but he’s not apparently related to anybody from the Seven Deadly Sins.

Instead, his alleged dad is known better as Ironside. He never got to know his father, but Ironside is a holy knight working for King Arthur. And Ironside kills his own father after meeting his son for the first time in forever.

King Arthur being the villain in this series is another twist that I wasn’t quite ready for. He was a good guy in the first series and not that powerful. But after his merger with Chaos, he apparently has a view for Britannia that does not involve anybody outside of the human race.

I will say that my favorite character the show actually ended up being Sin, the mysterious red fox. I guessed who he was early on and he has a really badass debut.

It’s easy to say that Four Knights of the Apocalypse is actually a pretty good sequel series to the original. I also enjoyed seeing a lot of the older characters show up in the story, bit by bit . I would prefer the first show to it, but I’m very excited for the second season. Which is actually coming up fairly soon on Netflix.
